Handpans
For beginners, the most popular and versatile choice is the D Minor Kurd (D Kurd 10). It has a wide emotional range, from meditative and melancholic to uplifting and joyful. All notes harmonize beautifully, so you can intuitively play without worrying about mistakes.
If you don’t have a strong preference yet, D Minor Kurd is a safe and inspiring choice. Other scales, like F Pygmy or Ashakiran scales are also beginner-friendly. Ultimately, the right handpan is the one that moves you most. Listen to the sound samples and choose the one that resonates with you.
We offer three main models, crafted from two premium steels:
- Mini Handpan (43 cm) → Compact, lightweight, and easy to play. Made from stainless steel, it has a clear, bright tone with long resonance. Perfect for smaller players, travel, or anyone who wants a portable option—while still delivering the warm, full handpan sound.
- Stainless Steel Handpan (53 cm) → Clear, warm tone with a long sustain. Very rust-resistant, low-maintenance, and ideal for meditation and relaxed play.
- Ember Steel Handpan (53 cm)→ Warm, deep tone with an exceptionally long sustain (even longer than stainless). Also rust-resistant and low-maintenance. Due to its exclusivity and complex production, availability may be more limited.
The best choice is always the one that resonates with you most.
Our handpans are built to last. With normal use, they stay perfectly in tune for 3–7+ years before needing any retuning. If a note ever drifts, simply contact us and we’ll retune it for you.
Every instrument comes with a 2-year tuning warranty: if anything happens during normal use, we’ll fix it free of charge. Even after the warranty, you can always send it back for retuning at a fair price. This way, you can buy with complete peace of mind.
Not at all! Because all notes belong to the same scale, they sound nice together. You don’t need any prior musical background to create beautiful melodies.
Most beginners can play simple rhythms within days. With practice, you’ll quickly discover more patterns and techniques. To support your journey, every handpan includes free lifetime access to the Master the Handpan course: over 70 step-by-step video lessons. This makes learning fun and accessible at your own pace.
When you order a LIDAH handpan, you don’t just receive an instrument, you receive a complete package to start your journey right away:

👉 Everyone has their own taste, the best way to choose is to listen to the sound videos and select the model and scale that resonates most with you. You can’t go wrong!
All LIDAH Tongue Drums are beginner-friendly. Each one is tuned to a single scale, meaning every note harmonizes beautifully with the others. You don’t need prior musical knowledge. Just play intuitively, and you’ll create beautiful sounds right away.
Whether you want to relax, meditate, or simply enjoy playing, our drums provide the perfect starting point.
We create our tongue drums in a carefully selected range of scales, aiming to offer several options for each model. These scales can generally be categorized as follows:
Melancholic scales:
D-Minor and A-Minor are popular favorites due to their deep, emotional sound and ease of use. They are perfect for meditative music and intuitive playing.
Mystical scales:
The AkeBono scale has an exotic and mystical sound, perfect for creating a mysterious yet relaxing atmosphere.
Joyful scales:
Major scales, such as G-Major and Lydian, have a light, positive sound. They are particularly suitable for energetic and upbeat music. These scales are often preferred for children.
Versatile scales:
Equinox and C# Amara combine both major and minor tones, making them highly versatile and suitable for various music styles.
The most important thing when choosing a scale is to listen to the sound that resonates with you the most. The right tongue drum is the one that speaks to you the most.
Yes! Our Tongue Drums can be played with both hands and mallets.
👉 Hand technique tips:
- Use relaxed fingers — never stiff.
- Light, short taps (not heavy force).
- Avoid keeping your finger on the note too long, as it dampens the vibration.
Every drum comes with mallets, so you can try both techniques and find your favorite.
Caring for your drum is easy and takes little time:
- Avoid dropping or bumping it.
- Occasionally wipe it with a soft cloth to remove dust and fingerprints.
That’s it! With minimal care, your Tongue Drum will look and sound beautiful for years. 💚
Not at all, the Tongue Drum is one of the easiest instruments to play. All notes belong to the same scale, so you can’t play a wrong note.
To help you start, every drum includes a digital music book, written especially for your chosen model. It contains simple songs and rhythmic patterns so you can begin right away. With just a little practice, you’ll soon be creating beautiful melodies and enjoying the soothing sounds of your instrument.
Never. Our Tongue Drums are extremely stable in tuning because the notes are cut directly into the steel body. As long as your drum isn’t dropped or damaged, it will stay in tune for a lifetime.
That’s why we confidently offer a lifetime tuning guarantee, so you can enjoy your instrument without worry.
Every LIDAH Tongue Drum is handcrafted from premium stainless steel in our Bali workshop. Stainless steel is chosen for its durability, resistance to rust, and ability to produce a warm, resonant sound with long sustain.
Each instrument is shaped, cut, and tuned entirely by hand by our small team of skilled artisans. We don’t mass-produce, every drum receives personal attention and precision tuning to ensure the highest quality of sound and finish.
The result is not just a musical instrument, but a piece of craftsmanship with its own unique soul, built to last for many years of enjoyment.
Shamanic Drums
We offer two handcrafted models, each with its own character:
- Easytune Shamanic Drum → Features an inflatable ring that lets you easily adjust the tension of the skin using a small pump. This means you can tune the drum yourself. Perfect if you want flexibility in sound, specific vibrations, or protection against changes in temperature and humidity.
- Traditional Shamanic Drum → Made with ancient techniques, without a pumping system. The tension is preset and stable but can be influenced by climate. You can adjust it by gently heating the skin (sunlight, body warmth, or near a campfire) or by carefully moistening and retuning. This model gives you the most authentic, traditional playing experience.
👉 Choose Easytune if you want convenience and the ability to adjust the sound anytime. Choose Traditional if you value authenticity and don’t mind a more hands-on approach.
- Furred Drum → Warm, earthy appearance with a slightly deeper, softer tone thanks to the natural damping effect of the fur.
- Rawhide Drum → Bright, resonant sound with more volume and long sustain.
Both options are equally powerful. The choice comes down to whether you prefer a warmer, muted tone or a clearer, more resonant sound.
Size influences both portability and sound:
- 40cm → Compact, lightweight, and easy to travel with. Perfect for beginners and personal use.
- 50cm → Balanced option with versatile sound. Great for both individual and group sessions.
- 60cm → Larger, deeper, and more resonant. Ideal for ceremonial use or more intense drumming.
- 70cm → The most powerful, with deep, earthy tones and strong presence. Best suited for ceremonials and rituals.
👉 Choose the size that matches your body comfort, playing style, and where you’ll use the drum.
All our drums are beginner-friendly. Whether Easytune or Traditional, with Fur or Rawhide, every model is intuitive to play and delivers a deep, grounding sound.
If you’re new to shamanic drumming and plan to play mainly by yourself, we recommend starting with a 40 cm or 50 cm drum. These sizes are lighter, easier to hold, and still powerful in sound.
Every LIDAH Shamanic Drum is handcrafted in Bali by our small team of artisans. We use natural materials: goat skin for the drumhead (a sustainable byproduct) and teak wood for the frame.
We believe in giving back to nature: for every instrument we sell that uses wood, we plant a tree. This way, your drum not only carries the spirit of tradition, but also contributes to a sustainable future.
- Store in a dry place, away from extreme heat, cold, or moisture.
- Protect with a bag or blanket when transporting.
- Avoid sudden changes in temperature or humidity, which can affect tension.
With this simple care, your drum will stay beautiful and resonant for years.

Easytune models → Never need retuning, you can adjust the tension yourself anytime with the pump.
Traditional models → Tension can change slowly over time. You can adjust it by heating or re-moistening the skin. Depending on how often you play and environmental conditions, this may only be needed every few years, or not at all.
It’s very easy! A Shamanic Drum should be played intuitively: you can simply follow your feeling, rhythm, and energy. There’s no “right” or “wrong” way to play. Beginners often start with simple steady beats and quickly discover new techniques as they grow.
The drum is not just an instrument, it’s a tool for meditation, ceremony, and self-expression. The most important part is to enjoy the sound and the journey.
Didgeridoos
It depends on what you’re looking for:
- Didge Box → Our most compact model. Easy to store and travel with. Ideal for practicing breathing techniques and strengthening the respiratory muscles. Often recommended for use in reducing snoring and sleep apnea.
- Spiral Didge → Slightly larger, with a deeper, resonant sound. Not only an instrument, but also a work of art with its elegant spiral shape.
- Snake Didge → Offers the same tube length as our spiral didgeridoo, but with a twisted shape. Delivers a full sound in a portable size.
👉 Listen to our sound recordings and choose the tone and model that speaks to you most. There’s no wrong choice—each one is handcrafted and produces a powerful, dynamic sound.
Every LIDAH Didgeridoo is handmade in Bali by a small team of artisans. Craft from high-quality, teak wood and finish each one carefully by hand. This ensures not only a beautiful appearance but also a rich, full tone with strong overtones.
Because every instrument is handcrafted, each Didgeridoo has its own unique look and sound, no two are exactly alike.
Playing the Didgeridoo is easier than most people think! To get started, you simply buzz your lips into the mouthpiece to create the base drone. From there, you can add rhythms, overtones, and vocal effects.
The famous circular breathing technique—breathing in through your nose while pushing air out through your cheeks—may feel strange at first, but with practice you'll be able to get a hold of it. Most can pick it up within a few weeks of regular practice.
Our compact Travel Didgeridoos are excellent practice instruments, they make it easier to train your breathing muscles and refine your technique.
Looking after your Didgeridoo is simple:
- Store it in a dry place away from extreme heat or humidity.
- Use a soft cloth to keep the wood clean and free from dust.
- Avoid dropping or hitting it against hard surfaces.
With minimal care, your LIDAH Didgeridoo will remain beautiful, resonant, and inspiring for years to come.
